MARCUS CLIFFE graduated in Jazz Piano from Leeds College of Music before switching to bass. He was the bassist with Mark Knopfler’s popular country-rock band, Notting Hillbillies, and has played with Paul Young, Rod Stewart, Rumer, Bryan Ferry; he’s released 10 albums and has scored two independent films. Rihab graduated from the Conservatoire of Damascus, Syria, and won a scholarship to study music education at UCL in London in 2015. He’s inspired by the use of traditional instruments in unusual contexts and passionate about sound design. He lists his influences as Bon Iver, Billie Eilish, SOHN and Sevdaliza. ISSA MBAYE was born a griot (traditional musical story teller) in Yoff, Senegal and learned the musical rhythms of mbalax – Senegal’s national popular dance music – and the sabar (drum).
