It was an honour to witness ... and a musical expression for everything I want Britain to be in the future: inclusive, brave, diverse, celebratory, enquiring, curious, respectful, joyous, embracing, beautiful' - Kay Walton, Brighton, UK Croydon Composers is a pioneering music project bringing together composers and musicians from the borough of Croydon to create cross-genre, cross-community collaborations. 14 musicians from a wide range of music genres have been selected - from hip hop to folk, Indian classical, jazz, Turkish, spoken word, afrobeats, dancehall, - and matched up to form 8 pairs of collaborators. Each pair has created and recorded one composition for this CD. Participants mentored & produced by composer/musician and BASCA award winner Shri Sriram. Croydon Composers has been created by Croydon-based arts organisation 'Drum The Bass' and music business consultant Michael Fuller, who has run music industry workshops for the project participants. Project produced & managed by Shirin Sriram.
